The director of The Child and The Soldier and Under The Moonlight fashions a hallucinogenic tale of a simple-minded shepherd who comes to believe he’s channeling spiritual forces when he fills in as the caretaker of a mountain shrine.
Filmed in widescreen, giving the stunning vistas of sky and mountain a major emotional presence in the story, Here, a Shining Light creates an eerie intersection between the seen and the unseen when scoffing locals begin to discern that something out of the ordinary is developing on their mountaintop.
Habib Rezayi won Best Actor at the 2003 Fajr Film Festival for his performance in the leading role.
