Dog killing is Bahram Beyzaie's first film in a dozen years. To many outside the country Beyzaie is primarily known through Bashu, the Little Stranger. Bashu had to wait many years before it got permission for release. It was then (1985) rejected by film audits as an anti-war movie.

Not a single movie of the director has made it to the theaters with ease. Beyzaie's meticulous, capillary attention bleed outside his movies and into the bureaucratic process that sees films into projectors. Killing Rabids (Sagkoshi) was no exception. Director and Producer came to a last-minute agreement after months of sword pointing. (summary by Ramin Haeri: ramin@tehranavenue.com)
