Mini biography
Marzieh Meshkini, born in 1969 in Tehran, studied film at the Makhmalbaf Film School from 1996 to 2001. She is married to Mohsen Makhmalbaf and worked with him as assistant director on several of his films. Roozi ke zan shodam (2000) (The Day I Became a Woman), her first film, recounts the story of a young girl who is officially declared a woman on her 9th birthday and afterwards has to wear a veil and is no longer allowed to speak to boys. The film has won numerous awards at film festivals.

Née en 1969 à Téhéran, Marzieh Meshkini a étudié pendant deux ans dans l'école privée de cinéma de Mohsen Makhmalbaf. Elle a été assistante à la réalisation sur "La Pomme" et "Le Tableau noir" de Samira Makhmalbaf, et sur "La Porte" (dans "Les contes de Kish") et "Le Silence" de Mohsen Makhmalbaf. "Le Jour où je suis devenue femme" est son premier film.
