A great film unknown outside of iran. “Atash-e sabz” [The Green fire] is brilliant and great. It had just one screening (i think in Chicago), shot in some kind of Mizoguchian style, and based on iranian history (from 2500 years ago till now, narrated in 7 episodes). it shows a different view from Iran and its cinema. This film deserves to be released. (M.H Khosravi)

Green Fire is Aslani's newest film made in 2007 telling an old story that has its origin in the ancient mythological tale of The Patient Stone.

The Patient Stone, is the story of a girl named Nardaneh who hears an inner voice telling her: "She will marry a dead man."  One fine day Nardanh suddenly enters into an old castle. In one Room of this fabulous castle, she finds the dead body of a man hit by seven arrows. Then Nardaneh finds a Book in the room; she takes the book and begins to read it: "In the name of God, The Merciful".

This book has seven hadiths and Nardanh must read one hadith every day and only eat one almond a day and at the end of each day remove one arrow out of the dead man's body. At the end of the seventh Hadith the dead man becomes alive and marries her.
