Sound and Fury (2016) ‘Khashm Va Hayahoo’ directed by Hooman Seyedi
International Film Festival Australia (IFFA)
«Life has taught me that things may not be what they appear to
be». -- William Faulkner
‘Sound and Fury’ by Iranian filmmaker Houman
Seyedi depicts the life of Khosro, a pop singer, who lives a hectic
life with his wife Tina and his son. His life is further complicated when he
becomes involved with a female fan. A terrible event then forces each to recount
their side of the story in the pursuit of the truth.
Indeed, wherein lies the
truth? In sound or in fury? And what is the impact of fame on the private lives
of individuals?
The film won the Best Cinematography award in the 34th
Fajr Film Festival, Tehran and features a spectacular performance from rising
star Navid Mohammadzadeh. Hooman Seyedi
also won the Juries’ Special award for Best Director.
‘Sound and Fury’ by Houman Seyedi was among the
competing titles in the main competition section of the 19th edition of Shanghai International Film Festival, slated for 11-19
June, 2016. (mehrnews)
Director’s
Statement:
In my world there is crime and prostitution.
In my world there are felonies and lies. In my world there is hypocrisy and
complexity. There is everything in my world. There is judgment in my world. Yet,
is everything as it appears? Is the truth exactly what we see? Indeed, wherein
lies the truth? In sound or in fury?
